When you’re doing keyword research for a client, how do you know if you have enough keywords to give them?
This is a question I get asked often by new SEOs. Don’t get me wrong, experienced SEOs still experience the feeling of being trapped in the rabbit hole of keyword research, to which this post still applies as a reminder. How do you know when to stop? How do you know when you have enough?
That depends on what was promised to the client and what you’re intending to do with them as well as the purpose of your keyword research. Are you looking at targeting for only a few pages? Or are you looking for market demand? Or are you looking for potential targeting and ideas for multiple pages spanning an entire topic? Multiple ideas spanning an entire site? Is this the first preliminary keyword research for the site?
Ultimately, it comes down to the purpose for your keyword research. And if you feel confident enough to use what you currently have if you were to start tomorrow.
